Unequal economic growth continues in developing India, as shown in forthcoming publication by Dr. Bandyopadhyay
A new research paper by Dr. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay (QMUL CGR) discusses unequal economic growth across Indian states, revealing convergence clubs in incomes. There is no evidence of growth spillovers between the Indian states. This is unusual, because in most developed countries regional spillovers happen as they specialise and grow. The Indian case therefore suggests that for developing countries growth across regions could be lumpy and uneven.
